The Iowa Bankers Association held its annual Consumer Credit School. Kara Vander Hamm, along with 39 other Iowa bankers completed the program. Vander Hamm is an Ag/Business Banker at Peoples Bank in Akron.

This year’s Consumer Credit School class started the week with a networking reception, then completed five days of consumer lending education. The school focused on helping bankers develop a better understanding of the consumer credit function as an integral part of retail banking, deepen their comprehension of the managerial aspects of consumer credit operations, and refine their administrative and human relations skills. The school followed the ABA Consumer Lending curriculum including a round table session and a role play module. The students also submitted an idea paper and took an exam at the end of the week. The paper detailed a topic from the curriculum they feel would be beneficial for their bank.
The school instructors consisted of Iowa bankers and members of the IBA and IBIS staff.
